Help with Hexing Prepaid Meter

I have a Hexing HXE110P-P Single Phase Residential meter used in a split prepayment metering system with an CIU EV-KP which is a customer interface unit with keypad for credit charging.

Recently the  CIU which communicates with metering unit by MBUS or PLC for energy consumption and credit balance monitoring, credit limitation alarming and credit charging, does not connect anymore.

This unit is from City Power Johannesburg.

I have removed the batteries to reset the unit as well, continue the show the "failed" message on the screen, when using the codes 802 to set the date and 803 to set the time or entering the 20 digit voucher.

Please provide a solution...

  5. I see no solutions in the comments so I hope my experience is of help. I struggled for hours until I went to the box and realised the council changed the meter and it now had a different serial number. After that was keyed in the unit communicated correctly, so check your base unit serial number first! Secondly, I noticed that when I switched on a certain appliance the unit stopped communicating again, supposedly because it causes interference on the power line (the keypad uses the power line to communicate with the box outside), so check whether a device plugged into a wall socket isn't causing issues. Hope this helps

      I connected the meter directly to the DB,
      Input: 18075773902-success
      Then Input meter no - success.
      Loaded the voucher number, it worked.

    1. Hi. Make sure that the unit in the home is plugged into the wall outlet, even though it is powered using batteries. It seems the unit in the home communicates with the unit outside through the power lines.

      2. Plug it in - it seems to need the wires to communicate with the outside unit
      3. now if you press 801 enter you should get it connected
      Enter your token...success

      If that does not work then
      4. enter 18075773902 press enter... success to repair the CIU with the meter
      5. Then enter your meter number press enter... success
      Enter your token...success

      If none of that works, you will probably need to get a technician out.

      1. Make sure that you plug your meter as close as possible to the electricity box, eg: if it is in the kitchen, plug the meter in one of the kitchen plug.
      2. Make sure your main switches and plugs on the board are up. everything else should be down
      3. Enter your meter serial number(the number you always use to buy credit with) and press enter. This will display success
      4. Enter 809 and press enter. this will display 0.1
      5. Enter your token

      I spent 2 days without power, and city of tswane never showed up. On Technician helped me out with this

  58. Another solution after trying everything and it still doesn't work is to take out the Battery and clean or dry off any moisture from the battery compartment. This works for me after all the above methods failed. Good luck.

  64. Hi all, my machine was giving all the above problems mentioned and didn't want to load electricity, I tried the above mentioned solutions but it didn't work .

    This is what worked for me a day later , change the batteries (new) plug machine in the wall , enter the meter number and press enter (Success) then enter your token , Success . Lights came on , after being in the dark for 1 day .

  67. It looks like your internal unit in house communicates to outside box in Street via your DB board. My Hexing unit had no lights on, ie Neither Green nor Red were glowing. Kept on getting failed messages while trying to communicate with outside box. Replaced batteries in unit. Still no luck. Plugged Hexing unit in plug point nearest to house internal DB. Now connects. Thanks all

    This is what worked for me, I changed the batteries, plugged meter in a point closest to DB board , enter the meter number and press enter (Success) then enter your token ( Success ) Lights came on. Woohoo

    So had all the above drama. Another trick I learnt. Looking over the contractor shoulder. Step has been missing. The below is correct however need to turn your wifi off as it can sometimes cancel connection to the devices.

    Plug in the CIU
    Press 2 for auto scroll
    Enter pairing code: 1807 577 3902
    Press enter wait for “success”
    Enter Meter number
    Press enter and wait for “success”
    Then meter and CIU are paired
    Enter purchased electricity code

  114. I unpluged my hexing meter from the wall this morning and forgot to plug it back in.whe I got home the electricity was off. It still shows I have units on meter bit I can not get it connected. Showing a c510 code on the top left hand side. I put nut batteries is, unpluged everything, plugged it in close to the DB bord and tried tir 1807...a thousand times. It sys success on the 1807 code but when I put mete number in it says failed.....anyone else experiencing the same issue or someone that will ne able to assist?

    2. This was sorted after we logged a call with the municipality. They say this happens when the meter looses connection. Last night the electricity went off again, we did not unplug of move it. It shows a error code c51.0 and when ever i try to load more units it says connecting and the failed...we had to log a call again and we are still waiting....
